Design a new house on a vacant lot in the middle of a neighborhood of colonial and Victorian homes.
Our client purchased a building lot in the middle of established late 19th and early 20th century Victorian and Colonial style homes. The lot sloped away from the street and provided an opportunity to include a full walk out lower level on the back side of the house.
After considering different approaches, we decided with our client that they would prefer a house that looked like it had always been there. With this direction, we studied the details on the surrounding houses as well as doing research on homes from that era. We used a combination of details from Shingle Style, Victorian and Colonial architecture to design this new house. However, we designed an interior in a much more contemporary style providing an open floor plan with a large central eat-in kitchen and formal dining room.
